Say Hello To Perfect Selfies
12:21 AMHey Guys!
I thought I'll try something different today by showing you how to take better Selfies!
Now I'm by no means a Selfie Expert... but I take WAY better Selfies now than I did back then when i first started.
So, the first thing you want to do is make sure you have good lighting. The really well known and good bloggers have ringlights but any normal person could just use natural lighting which is always nice, or go to a room that has good lighting.
The next thing you wanna do is hold up your camera or phone in a good angle and height. You obviously don't want to hold your phone underneath your face that just gives you very unflattering angle and also double or triple chins. I like to hold my phone high and moves my face to the right side a bit. You have to see for yourself which side looks better, because the face isn't symmetrical, one side will always look better than the other.
Also, if you are using your phone you should know that the front facing camera isn't as good as the back camera when it comes to quality. But not seeing myself when I take a Selfie is a huge pain in the butt so I don't really mind.
Now, you can decide if you want to choose a live filter while you are taking the Selfie or edit it later. I always edit it later since the live filters of the iPhone for example aren't that pretty to me.
After you've taken the picture you can either upload it as it is ooor you can be smart and edit it. You don't have to have Photoshop or anything like that. There are apps for that. Duh.
I have a lot of apps of my phone - I'm an app junkie. So I know a few Photo Editing apps. I don't use all of them since that would be way too much but you can check them out and see if you like any of them.
!All apps are from the App Store!
1. Facetune (3,99€ in Germany, $3.99 in USA)I love this app. This has got to be the first app I use after I take a Selfie. You can do a lot of cool things with this but don't overdo it. When I have a big ass pimple on my forehead or something doesn't quite look right, I use this to edit it. You can cover up things, move things around, smooth out your skin, whiten your teeth, etc.
It does cost a few bucks but it is definitely worth every penny!
2. Enlight (3,99€ in Germany, $3.99 in USA)This app allows you to do a lot. You can change the lighting, the exposure, etc... Basic stuff. And it also has a lot of cool filters, you can skew the picture, reshape things, put cool effects on your pictures, aaand a lot of fun stuff. I always use the Instafit option, because I hate the fact that Instagram always crops your pictures.
This is the second app I use and 99% of the time this is all I do. I just use those two apps and put my picture up on Instagram. If this is not enough for you - I got more.
3. Aviary (Free)
This is my favorite free app. Well one of them. Aviary allows you to enhance your pictures with just one tap depending on what's on the picture (food, portrait, scenery,...). You can choose between many many effects and stickers, you can remove blemishes, add texts, whiten your teeth, and so on. When I first downloaded it years ago it wasn't as good as it is now but now I can't live without it anymore. Definitely worth checking out!
4. Pomelo (Free)
With Pomelo you can't remove any blemishes or anything beauty related like that but it offers you beautiful filters and editing options. I just took a picture of my boring room to check it out and to be honest it turned it into a pretty nice picture. It's free, you got nothing to lose!
5. MeituPic (Free)
This is definitely one I use a lot too, because it has everything you need. You can edit the picture (lighting, ...) and you can also retouch your Selfie if you need to make yourself prettier. The whole Beauty section is awesome, you can slim yourself down, lighten your under eye area, make your eyes bigger, make yourself taller and improve your skin texture! If you don't want to waste your money on anything I would highly suggest this app!
6. Rhonna Designs (1,99€ in Germany, $1.99 in USA)
This app does cost a lot of money if you really want to use to it's full extend so I would only suggest buying it if you are really into photo editing! You can add beautiful art to your picture which you do have to buy. You can also add filters and stuff but honestly I don't use those options in that app, because the other apps are better. But the artwork is really cool! Not a must though.
7. Kawaii Photo (Free)
This is quite nice if you want to add cute stickers to your picture. It also has the same or almost the same editing option as Aviary. I don't know if it's the same developer or not but I think it's fun to mess around with it. Not a must either.
8. Picframe (0,99€ in Germany, $0.99 in USA)
This app let's you combine all your pictures quickly and easily! You have a few options and you can even mirror your pictures if you like that effect. I would definitely recommend it and I think it's worth the money!
9. Typesetter (0,99€ in Germany, $0.99 in USA)
This app is, as it suggests, mainly for adding texts to your photos. It has many fonts and I'm sure you can make your pictures look even better and it's worth the money. If you like to add texts then this is definitely for you!
10. Photoshop (Forget about College)I knoooow, I know... But it had to be on the list. I don't think I need to say anything to this, do I? It has everything.
Buuut, if you don't want to spend all of your money on Photoshop there is a free alternative!
11. Xiuxiu Meitu (Free)
This is my favorite Desktop program when it comes to beauty. It has everything. There is one little problem though - it's all in Chinese. So if that bothers you and you can't deal with it, don't download it but you can give it a try, right? I can use it with no problems, so you should be able to do it too. I really highly suggest it!
Those are not all apps I have but honestly I have way too many and I think those are enough since I don't even use all of my apps.
After you edited your picture to your satisfaction you can upload it to Instagram or Facebook or whatever and show everyone how great you are!
Please don't overdo the editing though! You are beautiful as you are, you don't need to to make yourself look like a completely different person.
That's all I have to say for now. I f you want you can check out my last blog post about DIY Pore Strips.
I hope you have a lot of fun taking Selfies now!
See ya!♥
